An example of how the won-loss record does not tell the whole story.

A November trade was apparently soon enough for Topps to get the player on the right team, but not soon enough to get a photo with a hat.   

The second Phillie card. The first team with two cards.  Topps apparently could give a team a second card before every team had its first card. A third Phillie card would follow four cards later.  The November Selma trade must have happened after Topps had set their numbers for each card. I guess it was better to print two Phillie cards very close together than mess up the numbering system. 

Selma appeared very early in the set.  The following two years, his card would appear very late.
